Why Software

We are living in a software world. We used to use physical tools that were designed to do one thing, but more and more we are surrounded by computing devices that can be enhanced or improved through software to do things that were not previously possible or even envisioned.

In 2011, Marc Andreesen famously wrote “Software is eating the world”, referring to the way that software is replacing previously inflexible systems. The corollary of this is that “every company needs to become a software company” as software driven businesses render long established players and even industries obsolete. “Uber is eating taxis”, “Airbnb is eating hotels”, and who uses a physical travel agent any more?

Your company needs to become not only a software-driven company, replacing offline and paper-based processes with digital infrastructure, but indeed a software company itself, implementing a new operating system for the business itself that can be modified and upgraded to remain competitive.
